I was born in Richland WA in December 1949 in the shadow of the Hanford atomic energy plant. Why I haven't mutated more than I have is a mystery. My family moved to Othello WA in 1954 and then on to Bellevue WA where I lived until 1964. I have 3 brothers and one sister who we lost in 1986. Our family moved to Pleasanton CA in 1964. I attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg PA for one year before transferring to U.C.Davis where I received my B.S. degree in Biochemistry in 1972. I spent the following year doing research at Harvard and drinking a lot of beer at pubs in Harvard Square before returning to CA to start dental school at UCSF School of Dentistry. In 1976 I married my wonderful wife Jane, who was a student at UC studying for her Doctorate in pharmacy. We graduated in 1977 and I set up a private practice in Sunnyvale CA where we have been ever since. We have two great kids. Jennifer and Michael and two great kids-in law, Joe and Stephanie. This year Jane and I celebrate our 35th anniversary on of all days, Sept 11.
I am a long time fly-fisherman in the Sierra Nevada's, a would be golfer and recently a proud owner of a Sony A57 and a NEX 7. I have enjoyed photography for a long time. My first SLR was a Minolta XG-1, which I still have (well, my son does anyway). When the point and shoot revolution hit I was lured away from the SLR format for a while. I decided to go digital in 2001. DSLR's were out of range so I purchased an Olympus 3040. Fabulous little camera for its' time. Some of the earlier photos on this sight were taken with that camera. Christmas 2005, with a little nudging from me, Santa dropped a Minolta 5D down my chimney and the rest is history
